What is a Business to do?

Search Engine Results Upheaval for Businesses

Trying to keep track of where you’re actually showing in search results?
When you search on a computer that has visited your site before through a search, Google will throw up that same site as it helps you find ‘relevant’ search results, and because you’ve visited it before, Google thinks it may be relevant again. The details are cached in your browsing history.

So when you see your site on page one of Google for a search you’ve made a dozen times from the same machine, what you see is very likely not what others, ie. potential customers see.

Answer? Delete your browsing history.
But hold on, have you got a Google plus account and are you logged in? Again, Google Plus will help you out by throwing up sites you’ve visited, and maybe even sites that your network have visited. Try it, do a search for one of your key terms while logged in to Google Plus, then log out and search again, bet you the results are different.

Answer? Log out of Google Plus and delete your browsing history.

But how on earth can you ensure that your business gets found on Google by your potential customers, when the vast majority will have browsing history that may not be in your sites favour. If they’ve never visited your site before but have visited similar service providers then Google might favour the previously visited over your site! And more and more people are signing up for Google Plus Accounts, complicating the matter further!

What’s a business to do then?

The answer in this day and age is SEO from the ground up as step 1, lay the foundations correctly, followed by band wagon jumping! Social Media, site activity, and for new businesses good old print advertising! Drive traffic to your site. If you are a local business, advertise locally, making a big thing of your web site and your Facebook Page, and your Twitter Account, your linked in profile etc etc.

I know, it’s all time consuming and you’ve work to do, bills to pay, where will you find the time to do what’s needed? Call Ape Red Media, we’ll give you a head start on the task! 01794 521 516

All the dread I had about getting a website sorted was blown away after my call to Jeremy. He is totally down to earth, he listened to what I wanted and he delivered more than I expected.

I opted for a simple 3 page site and even without lengthy meetings and being bombarded with jargon and pressure, Jeremy came up with a really eye-catching, simple site that will serve my new business well. He said it would take him no more than 10 - 14 days and it didn’t, he delivered exactly when he said he would.

I would highly recommend Jeremy to anyone needing a website, take the leap, it’s not difficult, Jeremy is friendly, human and affordable.

Hi. I would like to say how pleased I am with the service provided by Ape Red. Jeremy has always answered my questions in a way that is easy to understand. He quickly got to grips with what I was looking for. He is only worried about creating a website that you want and not what he wants to give you. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ape Red to anyone else wanting a website.

With the UK’s National Stats Office telling us the 8 out of every 10 UK adults use the internet (41.6 million) this video is without question a must watch. The UK has 30 million Facebook users with over 5 million of them being 35 - 44 years old and anoth 5 million plus being 45 years of age plus! The average Facebook user has 130 friends and active Facebookers log on every day! WORD OF MOUTH HAS CHANGED!!!

8 out of every 10 UK adults use the internet

Figures released by the UK’s Office for National Statistics show 41.6 million of the  UK’s adults use the internet and 8.43 million have never used the internet.

83% of UK adults use the internet.

Disabled adults accounted for just over half of the 8.43 million adults who had never used the internet according to the research covering the period of April to September 2011.

Despite a relative boom in the number of adults aged 75 and over using the internet, 72.4% of this age group have still never gone online.

The figures show that income and disability remain a barrier to getting connected. Britons earning less than £300 a week make up 13.5% of the 8.43 million adults who have never used the internet. Every one of the 1.4 million adults earning over £1,000 a week said they have used the internet.

The research was taken from the quarterly Labour Force Survey and published by the ONS week ending 4th November 2011

This is a must watch

You want something done, ask someone busy.

tumblrbot asked: WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?

Now there’s a question for a rainy Saturday afternoon, and the answer would have to be Sugar Beach on Mauritius with my wife and boys, right now!

OK, so here we are on Tumblr, another blog service and one which has several appeals which we shall be promoting to our clients. Ape Red are a small web design firm with big aspirations.
